Videocity’s special exhibition “Flower Power” premiered at the prestigious international art fair Art Busan early this year and is will now be displayed in Tübingen, sharing the cultural exchange between Germany, Korea and Switzerland with visitors and encouraging an interplay between art and life.
Six works, many by women artists, speak of “Utopia” in their experience – a strong yet sophisticated message translated into intriguing visual languages. The videos examine the social norms and shifts caused by technology while reflecting on the implications for the understanding of ourselves and the world around us. Could Utopia be realised by sharing each other’s points of view?
Hartmut Schwahn, a lawyer and biochemist from Tübingen, responded to the call for tenders from WIT Wirtschaftsförderungsgesellschaft Tübingen mbH and is bringing Videocity to Tübingen as a “Probiererle” (German word for “small trial”). Here it will be shown on a monitor in several shops in the beautiful old town and thus complete a miniature tour from mid-July to the end of November 2023.
All videos will be shown in the shop windows without their original soundtrack. Life in Tübingen shapes the sound. Each location is its own cosmos: the surroundings influence our perception of the videos and vice versa, the videos allow us to experience the surroundings in a new light. A mutual inspiration of art and life.
